Katie Spencer
Katie Spencer live music Friday, September 13, 2024
Another fantastic musical talent take to the Highfield Lunar club, described as a world class folk guitarist who’s music is spellbinding.
Raised in the East Yorkshire flatlands on the fringes of Hull, Katie Spencer’s landscape has always been that of open skies and widening rivers. Industry still shapes the city here. The people, as with the land, are moulded by tides and stark horizons. Stand in the same place for long enough and you can watch the sun rise over the North Sea and then sink into crop fields, glowing auburn in late summer sun. It is this sense of space and movement that flows through Katie Spencer’s music.
The song writing, and most notably her guitar playing stems from a time when the steel-Stringed instrument was truly finding its voice. Artists like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and perhaps most evidently Michael Chapman, flow into her sound, carrying with them the warmth and idealism of the early 70’s folk and songwriter movements.
Take advantage of our fantastic dining offer when you purchase the ‘Make a night of it’ ticket. This includes your event ticket along with two courses chosen from our seasonal menu in our fabulous 1864 restaurant. Dining before the event must be booked no later than 6.30pm. Edwina Hayes Presents…
Edwina Hayes Presents….. Friday, July 19, 2024
Join us for an evening of musical talent as Edwina Hayes hosts some of her favourite artists from across the country.
Performing for you throughout the evening we have:
Thomas Lillywhite - Thomas has been performing since a young age and professionally since 2018 where he has performed at countless weddings and corporate events as both a singing waiter and as himself playing a selection of both covers and original songs.
In 2019, Thomas was cast in his first concert tour in The Carole King Songbook; showcasing the works of Carole King and toured from June to September across the UK. He has also appeared in other shows such as Walk Right Back To Happiness, a collection of the greatest hits of the 60’s which had a two-week run at the Yeadon Town Hall Theatre in 2023.
Since then, he continues to make a name for himself as an actor, singer-songwriter, and performer within the entertainment industry.
Becky Foord - Becky Foord is a Leicestershire based singer-songwriter who originally hails from North Yorkshire. With a voice described as enchanting, her collection of soft, assured folk and Americana songs share her love of the North York moors and coast, and the people and places where she grew up. Her lyrics at times evoke a wistful yearning for the wild landscapes of her youth, and at other moments share with the listener the tales of motherhood and of embracing the changes and challenges of life. Her classical training in voice and piano influences her flowing melodies and assured delivery.
Over the past year, Becky has enjoyed performing at venues across Leicestershire and Yorkshire, recently supporting Edwina Hayes at The Musician pub in Leicester. She loves to share her passion for songwriting through these live moments.’
Evie Rapson - Singer and guitarist spinning her own twist on an eclectic mix of songs from Bob Dylan to Billie Eilish.
"...her pristine voice transports us all to a different place and possibly a different time." - Americana UK
Jack Weston - Jack Weston is a Sheffield singer-songwriter, formerly known as Kid Conventional.
Having moved to Sheffield from Birmingham in 2007, he has become a fixture on the local scene, and in March 2024 decided to shed the mask and move forward under his own name, with new music and as many live shows as fatherhood allows. His first single of the new era, "Just Kids", was released on 8th March.
He has shared bills with artists including Edwina Hayes, Maz O'Connor, Henry Parker and Lucy & Hazel, with his honest and bitter-sweet lyrics, darkly comic stage-craft, and powerful vocal performances endearing him to music lovers from all musical backgrounds.
In addition to his solo work, he currently fronts “The Sheffield Beatles Project” and has played a number of acclaimed shows with the band since 2017.
